The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, mnips, has presented cheques totaling N35,699,654.00 to more than 50 families and next-of-kin of deceased police personnel under the Inspector-General of Police Group Life Assurance Scheme.

The presentation took place on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Niger State Police Command Headquarters, Dutsen-Kura, Minna.

The gesture is part of the welfare-driven initiatives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, aimed at strengthening the welfare of serving and deceased police personnel and providing support to their families.

While presenting the cheques, CP Elleman commiserated with the beneficiaries, describing the occasion as a sober moment for the Nigeria Police Force and families who lost their loved ones in the course of service to the nation.

He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the deceased officers and assured their families that their service and ultimate sacrifice would not be forgotten.

The Commissioner stressed that the financial assistance could not replace their departed loved ones but was intended to provide some relief to the bereaved families and demonstrate the continued care and support of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to him, the intervention by the Inspector-General of Police is also a reminder that families of deceased personnel remain an integral part of the Police family.

CP Elleman urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously for the wellbeing and development of their families, saying such prudent use would also honour the memory and sacrifices of their departed loved ones.

He prayed for God’s blessings, protection and favour upon the beneficiaries and their families.

The Commissioner further assured the families of the continued support of the Niger State Police Command, encouraging them to always regard the Command as their home.

He expressed his condolences once again to the bereaved families and wished them safe journeys to their respective destinations.
