The Niger State First Lady, Hajiya Fatima Bago, has intensified efforts to improve access to safe and reliable water in Edati Local Government Area through the rehabilitation and drilling of motorised water facilities across the area’s 10 wards.

The initiative, spearheaded and funded by the First Lady, received additional support from Eshe, a women’s health technology company, which donated 10 water tanks to complement the intervention.

The projects were commissioned during a visit to Edati by a delegation led by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Jacob Baba Yisa.

The delegation also included the Commissioner for Health, Dr Murtala Bagana; Eshe’s Chief Executive Officer, Stanislav; representatives of the Russian Embassy; and the Coordinator of Niger State-Russia Relations, Mrs Natalia Yisa.

The intervention is aimed at addressing water challenges at the community level and improving access to basic services for women, children and families across Edati.

Speaking through the initiative, the First Lady’s intervention reflects her continued emphasis on community-based development and programmes designed to address challenges confronting vulnerable households.

For Eshe, the donation represents an extension of its commitment to women’s wellbeing beyond its digital health platform.

The company focuses on providing women with reliable and culturally relevant health information and support through technology.

The partnership also highlights the link between access to basic amenities such as clean water and improved health outcomes, particularly for women and children.

During the commissioning, the delegation inspected the projects and assessed their impact on communities, while discussions were held on potential areas of collaboration between the Niger State Government and development-oriented organisations.

The Edati intervention is expected to strengthen efforts to attract more innovative partners to Niger State and encourage collaborations capable of translating development initiatives into tangible benefits for residents.
