The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai Chapter, says its recent meeting with Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, ended without an agreement to resolve the ongoing strike.

The chapter Chairman, Dr. Galadima Bala, disclosed this during a phone interview

According to him, Governor Bago asked the union to first suspend the strike before further negotiations could begin on the issues that led to the industrial action.

Dr. Galadima also dismissed reports that the governor told ASUU to “lock the institution and bring the key,” saying Bago denied making the statement during the meeting.

The ASUU chairman appealed to parents, students and staff of IBBU Lapai to remain calm and patient, noting that representatives of the Niger State Government are already engaging with the union to find a resolution and end the strike.
