The Niger State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology has moved to mediate the ongoing strike at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai.
The committee chairman, Hon. Muhammad Sani Idris, who represents Tafa Constituency, said the committee would engage ASUU, university management and the state government to seek common ground and facilitate the resumption of academic activities.
Idris said the prolonged dispute was affecting students and the wider state, stressing that both the government and ASUU would need to make concessions to resolve the issues.
The Vice-Chancellor of IBBU, Prof. Muhammad Hadi Suleiman, welcomed the intervention and expressed cautious optimism that further discussions with ASUU could lead to a resolution.
