The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), under the leadership of Alhaji Mahmud Lawal Murshid, has commended Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, for his support and recognition of Qur’anic reciters at the 41st Niger State Qur’anic Recitation Competition held in Bida.
The commendation was contained in a statement shared on the society’s official social media handle.
The society described the Governor’s gesture as a commendable step towards promoting Qur’anic education and encouraging young men and women who dedicate themselves to learning and memorising the Holy Qur’an.
According to the statement, Governor Bago approved substantial financial rewards for participants and organisers of the competition, including ₦5 million and a Hajj seat for each first-position winner, while other participants are to receive ₦1 million each.
The Governor also approved ₦10 million for the Local Organising Committee, while each of the judges is to receive ₦1 million.
MSSN said beyond the financial rewards, the public recognition of Qur’anic reciters sends an important message to young people that knowledge, discipline and dedication to religious learning are valued and appreciated in society.
The society noted that leadership and development should encompass different aspects of human development, stressing that while infrastructure such as roads, hospitals and schools remains important, education, moral development, religious learning and preservation of societal values are equally significant.
MSSN therefore expressed appreciation to Governor Bago for the initiative, describing it as a gesture worthy of commendation.
The society prayed that Allah would accept the Governor’s support as Sadaqah Jariyah, reward everyone who contributed to the success of the competition, bless the Qur’anic reciters and guide leaders to continue implementing programmes that benefit the people.
The MSSN also prayed for Governor Bago to be granted greater wisdom and sincerity in the discharge of his responsibilities.

May Allah accept this as Sadaqah Jariyah, reward all the reciters, judges and organisers, and grant our leaders more wisdom to support programmes that benefit the Ummah Ameen.
