A 2027 Niger State governorship aspirant, Hon. Muhammad Mamman Nami, is set to support the empowerment of 1,000 orphans and less-privileged children across the state through vocational training, entrepreneurship development and skills acquisition.

The initiative, being sponsored by Nami in partnership with Hiqma Global Link Nig. Ltd., is aimed at equipping vulnerable children with practical skills and knowledge to promote self-reliance and improve their future economic prospects.

The programme will provide training in areas including computer and digital skills, entrepreneurship and small business development, fashion design and tailoring, cake baking and decoration, bag making, solar installation, interior design and decoration.

Beneficiaries will also receive educational support through JAMB/CBT preparation and WAEC, NECO and NABTEB coaching, alongside other relevant vocational and income-generating skills.

Nami, a tax administrator and former Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), served as chairman of the agency from 2019 to 2023.

The organisers said the initiative was designed to provide beneficiaries with skills, mentorship and opportunities that could enable them to become productive and economically independent.

They said the programme seeks to contribute to the development of a generation of skilled, confident and self-reliant young people capable of contributing to the social and economic development of Niger State.
