The Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) has intensified monitoring of the Effective Legacy School Projects across the state, with two of seven flagship projects completed and awaiting handover.

The completed projects are located at Zango Primary School in Kontagora and Richard Lander Primary School in New Bussa.

The Executive Chairman of NSUBEB, Dr. Ibrahim A. Liman, directed Full-Time Member III, Hon. Samuel Jonathan Mokotso, and Full-Time Member V, Hon. Mohammed Mamman Auna Dan Sokoto, to inspect the projects and ascertain their compliance with approved specifications and standards.

The inspection was also aimed at ensuring that the facilities provide safe, conducive and child-friendly environments capable of supporting effective teaching and learning.

Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Mokotso expressed satisfaction with the quality and level of work executed at the project sites.

He commended the Niger State Government under the leadership of Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago for its commitment to revitalising basic education infrastructure across the state.

Mokotso urged the benefiting communities to take ownership of the facilities and protect them against vandalism and other forms of abuse.

He said the sustainability of government investments in education required active participation from communities, particularly in safeguarding public school infrastructure.

The NSUBEB board member also reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to implementing reforms aimed at repositioning the basic education sector for greater efficiency and improved learning outcomes.

He commended the leadership of the Executive Chairman for what he described as the passion, commitment and vision being brought to the development of basic education in the state, assuring residents that “more is still to come.”

The completion of the two projects represents another milestone in the Effective Legacy School Programme, while attention is now shifting to the remaining five flagship projects, which are at various stages of completion, with several already at the finishing stage.

Meanwhile, NSUBEB has commenced the renovation and rehabilitation of about 400 basic schools across communities in Niger State.

According to the Board, the interventions are part of the broader vision of the New Niger Agenda to provide functional, modern and child-friendly learning environments and improve access to quality basic education for school-age children across the state.

The Board said its renewed focus on infrastructure development, teaching and learning, community participation and institutional reforms is aimed at transforming the basic education sector and improving educational outcomes across Niger State.
