The Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, has congratulated Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago on receiving the “Governor of the Year” Award from Daily Times Nigeria.
The award was presented at the newspaper’s Centenary Heroes Awards in Abuja, recognising Nigerians for outstanding contributions to public service and national development.
In a statement, the SSG described the honour as a well-deserved recognition of Bago’s efforts to transform Niger State into a major agricultural and economic hub.
He said the administration’s New Niger Agenda has placed agriculture, mechanisation, food production and agribusiness at the centre of its economic transformation strategy.
Usman also highlighted investments in roads, urban renewal, power and water, noting that the projects are helping to open up communities, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce and attract investment.
He commended Bago for promoting private-sector participation and partnerships with farmers, investors and development agencies.
According to him, the award would further encourage the governor and his team to sustain the pace of development and implement programmes that directly improve the lives of citizens.
The SSG also expressed optimism that the state’s ongoing reforms would attract more recognition and investment in agriculture, infrastructure, industrialisation, education, healthcare and human capital development.
