The Niger State Government has commenced moves to revitalise the Government Printing Press, GPP, to improve its operations and service delivery.

The initiative was discussed during a strategic meeting between the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, and the management and staff of the GPP in Minna.

The meeting, led by the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, ESV James T. Bake, focused on challenges affecting the printing press, including the condition and management of printing equipment, staff discipline and productivity.

The SSG stressed the need for transparency, accountability and professionalism in the management of government resources.

Alhaji Usman warned staff against the misuse of government property, saying anyone found culpable would face disciplinary action.

He also directed that all processes involving the handling, sale or replacement of government equipment must comply with due process and be properly authorised and documented.

The SSG further directed the development of a comprehensive schedule of duties to clarify staff responsibilities and strengthen accountability.

The meeting also considered the need for proper inventory of existing printing machines and the replacement or acquisition of equipment where necessary.

The management and staff of the Government Printing Press pledged their commitment to repositioning the agency into a more efficient and productive institution capable of meeting the printing needs of the state government.
