Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has assigned portfolios to six newly appointed commissioners-designate, ahead of their expected swearing-in and commencement of official duties.
The development follows the appointment of the six commissioners-designate by the state government as part of efforts to strengthen the administration and enhance service delivery across various sectors. The appointees were subsequently screened and confirmed by the Niger State House of Assembly.
Under the new arrangement, Professor Isah Adamu has been assigned the Ministry of Rural Development, while Mohammed Danladi Garba will oversee the Ministry of Technical and Vocational Education.
Lucky Barau is to head the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, while Emmanuel Alamu will serve as Commissioner for Special Duties.
The Ministry of Sports and Youth Development will be headed by Isah Wakili, while Saidu Shuaibu Kaboji will oversee the Ministry of Commerce.
Governor Bago said the early allocation of portfolios was intended to enable the incoming commissioners to familiarise themselves with their respective ministries and assume duty immediately after their swearing-in.
He congratulated the six commissioners-designate and expressed confidence that they would bring their experience and expertise to bear in advancing the administration’s programmes and development agenda.
The governor wished them success in the discharge of their responsibilities and urged them to remain committed to effective service delivery and the overall development of Niger State.
The appointments are part of the administration’s broader effort to strengthen its executive team and improve coordination across key sectors of the state.
