The RAFIMAH Youth Child Development and Social Impact Foundation is set to launch the Boy Safe Niger Project, described by the organisers as the first initiative of its kind in Niger State dedicated specifically to protecting boys from sexual abuse and exploitation.
The project coordinator Gimba Evuti, explained that the programme is aimed at raising awareness about the risks of sexual abuse and exploitation of boys, while equipping them with knowledge of their rights and the confidence to speak up when faced with abuse.
Evuti says

the initiative will provide safe spaces, counselling and support for boys, while also training parents, teachers and community leaders on child protection, prevention and appropriate responses to cases of abuse.
He added that the programme will encourage open communication between boys and trusted adults, particularly on issues that children may be reluctant to discuss because of fear, stigma or societal expectations.
According to RAFIMAH Foundation, the protection of boys requires collective action from families, schools, communities, government agencies and civil society organisations.
The foundation says the project is designed to raise a generation of confident, compassionate and courageous boys who will grow up in safe environments, remain focused and become responsible leaders and agents of positive change in their communities.
The initiative, themed “Protecting the Boy Child from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation,” is scheduled for 30th September 2026 at 4:00 p.m. at Old Airport Quarters along Limawa, near Afruji Almaddo Islamiyya.
The programme is being organised in partnership with HESD and The Blueprint Initiative.
The organisers are calling on parents, teachers, community leaders and other stakeholders to support the initiative and strengthen efforts aimed at protecting the dignity, rights and wellbeing of the boy child.
The project carries the message: “Empowered Boys Today, Responsible Men Tomorrow.”
