The CEO and Founder of Super Star Football Academy, Muhammad Maigari, has called for greater investment in grassroots sports as a means of engaging young people and protecting them from social vices.
Maigari made the call during the final of the Community League held in Limawa B, Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State, where young footballers, parents, supporters and community members gathered to celebrate grassroots football and youth development.
He said the academy was established to bring youths together through sports and provide them with a productive platform that would keep them away from smoking, fighting and other harmful street activities.
According to him, football goes beyond entertainment, as it can help build discipline, teamwork, confidence and leadership among young people.
“Our aim is to use football to unite our youths, keep them engaged and give them a sense of purpose. When young people have something productive to do, they are less likely to engage in smoking, fighting and other social vices. We want to raise disciplined footballers and responsible future leaders,” Maigari said.
The Community League, organised within Chanchaga Local Government Area, particularly Limawa B, provided an opportunity for young players to showcase their talents while promoting unity and positive community interaction.
The final was played between Super Star Football Academy and Yapi Football Academy, with Super Star Football Academy emerging champions after a 2–1 victory.
